Cash Management
Knowing exactly where you stand on cash — not an estimate, the real number — is what lets a Financial Controller forecast with any confidence. Greentree's Cash Management module is built to give you that: an accurate, current cash position backed by real transaction data, not a month-old bank statement.
Key Benefits
- Internet-enabled access from anywhere
- Multiple bank accounts in local and foreign currencies
- Cash analysis and budgeting by code
- Fast, largely automated bank reconciliation
Internet Enabled
Greentree runs on thin client technology out of the box, so remote offices and staff working away from the office get secure access to the full system without any special setup — the same functionality, wherever they’re logging in from.
Bank Account Management
Multiple bank accounts can be set up and maintained in local or foreign currencies, fully integrated with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Payments and receipts update bank balances immediately, so your cash position reflects real, up-to-date transactions rather than a figure that’s a few days behind.
Cash Analysis & Budgeting
Income and expense analysis codes let you group and analyse cash transactions for budgeting and reporting, giving proper control over cash expenditure rather than a rough sense of it. Reports support both historical review and forward-looking cash flow forecasting.
Cash flow budgets can be set by analysis code against each bank account, so budget versus actual variances — across all codes or just one — are available whenever you need them as input to a decision. F.R.E.E. pulls budget and actual cash management data straight into Excel, so results can be analysed and formatted however your own reporting requires.
Reconciliations
Bank reconciliation in Greentree is quick, with a matching process designed to keep manual effort to a minimum. For major banks, Greentree can read a bank statement data file directly and perform the reconciliation automatically — a real time saver, and one that cuts down on the errors that creep into reconciliations done by hand.
Forecasting You Can Act On
A budget is only useful if you can see how reality is tracking against it while there’s still time to do something about it. Because Cash Management sits on live transaction data rather than a periodic export, cash flow forecasts update as the business moves — a late customer payment, an early supplier run, a shift in seasonal trading — rather than going stale the day after they’re built. That turns forecasting from a monthly exercise into something a Financial Controller can genuinely rely on day to day, with enough warning to act before a shortfall becomes a problem rather than after.
One System, Not a Reconciliation Exercise
Cash Management doesn’t sit apart from the rest of the business — it’s built directly into the same platform as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and the General Ledger, so a cash position is never something you have to reconstruct from three different systems at month-end. Every payment, receipt and journal that touches cash updates the same live data everyone else is working from, which means Finance, management and anyone else who needs a current cash position is always looking at the same numbers — not a spreadsheet someone pieced together an hour ago.
Built for Scrutiny
Every transaction behind a cash balance in Greentree carries a full audit trail — who entered it, when, and through which process — so when a number needs explaining, whether to an auditor, a bank, or your own board, the detail is already there rather than needing to be reconstructed after the fact. That matters more as a business grows: the bigger the numbers, the more a documented, defensible cash position is worth having as standard rather than assembled under pressure.
